Grief, Collected: A Project From The Mash-Up Americans

Grief is both a deeply individual and collective experience. In the arc of this show we pursue an expansion of our understanding of the many dimensions of grief, as an experience of our bodies, to our communities, to our governments, to our cultures. We are pursuing the answer to a fundamental question: Can we change the shape of our future, by processing our past?

Meet The Founders

The Mash-Up Americans is a boutique creative studio working with select clients who want to understand and connect to the dynamic, diverse, modern American audience. We reveal and re-center stories on the voices of the future — the voices you don’t hear enough today.

Who We Are

The Mash-Up Americans is your guide to hyphen-America. We're rooted in tradition, looking to the future, and creating culture each day we live it. Since 2013, we've been helping our community navigate the complexities of mash-up identity as we cross multiple borders, ask all of the awkward questions, and figure out for ourselves what it means to live expansive, authentic, impactful lives where we bring our whole selves to the table every time. In nearly a decade of doing this work we've learned Mash-Ups are at the leading edge of culture, whether it’s in what they’re doing or how they’re doing it — so if you want to know who the thinkers and leaders are of the future, let us tell you.

What We Do

We publish original stories from our community, we curate the news with our worldview, and we lead our partners and clients in creating and amplifying stories that matter. Everything we do reflects the kaleidoscope of the Mash-Up American experience and at its core, pursues key questions: How do we define our identity? Who are the Mash-Up leaders, makers, doers and thinkers we need to know now? What are the issues keeping us up at night? What is the new culture that Mash-Ups are creating? And finally, how do we tell stories that help shape the future we want?

The Grief, Collected Project is supported in part by a grant from The Pop Culture Collaborative.
